“My Story, My Book: A Young Author’s Adventure”

Have you ever dreamed of being the author of your own book? Well, guess what, you’re about to be! I’m the person who’s going to help you turn your imagination and writing skills into reality using Google Slides. You’ve already learned so much about stories, characters, and writing… now it’s time to put on your author hat and create a book that’s totally YOU!

This course is designed for students in 2nd – 5th grades. It is meant to show students how to use what they’ve learned throughout the school year. The student must be signed up for a Google account before attending this class. It is free to sign up for a Google account. You are not obligated to keep it after the session. I will project and demonstrate using Google Slides. Students who are unfamiliar with Google Slides may need the help of a parent or older sibling to get set up.

What will we do in this 2-hour course? Writing a book is like going on an adventure! No need to worry, I’ll guide you every step of the way. This includes:

  • Relating what you’ve learned in ELA (about the character, setting, plot, author’s point of view, etc.)
  • Story Mapping
  • Free resources throughout the course to help you build a solid storyline.
  • Free information about how to self-publish.

By the end of the course, you’ll have your very own Google Slides or PDF of your book to share with family and friends. You can either use it to publish an ebook or a physical hard or soft cover book.
